What's the Deal? The Movie Industry has been switching from 35 mm film to digital for some time. Recently, they have notified us that by next year most studios plan to eliminate 35mm prints and only be shipping digital films. This means that our current projector will not work and we must install a new Digital Projector. Current estimates put one of these at about $70,000. This is money that we don't have and because the Drive-in is seasonal, it couldn't support a loan of that size. Our hope is that our patrons and the community at large would be willing to help us raise the money for this transition.
Why Donate? The monies collected from the Projector/Drive-in Equipment Replacement Fund will be used to used to buy and install a Digital Projector. The estimate we've received is for $70,000. Our timeline for installation will depend upon the success of our fundraising, but we hope to be ready to open for next year's season. If our fundraising goal is not met by this time, we may have to delay the opening of the drive-in but we will continue fundraising until we have reached our goal OR if we raise enough it can be the down payment on a loan.
How to Donate? Donations can be made by phone, mail or in person. You can stop by the Motel, call us (603-272-5008) or see one of us at the Drive-in. Cash, checks and credit cards are all welcome. We also have a donation box at the Drive-in Snack Truck. No amount is too small, but our hope was for 7,000 people to each donate $10 each. For anyone donating $100 or more, their name will be included in a list of Fairlee Drive-in Patrons displayed on a plaque displayed permanently on the back of the Projection Booth.
